TRIBUTE TO A SISTER AND FRIEND OF MANY DECADES BY OZI ONUGU

Created by Ada-Nze Ukoh 3 years ago

It's still difficult and indeed sad to believe this tribute is in respect of Favour Amogu nee Nnenna Ukaha.
I am still short of words because everything still looks like a dream to me. How can I comprehend that after reminiscing on your godly virtues on the night of 2nd April that I will be called up early in the morning of 3rd April to be told that you have passed on?

Memories are flooding my heart as to how we started our friendship. Fate brought the three of us- Nene, myself and you together in our academic pursuit in the 80's under the parentage of Chief Thompson Kalu Uduma (Daddy) and Mrs. Ivy Kalu Uduma (Mummy). That was the beginning of the bonding among us- a bond that has spanned through decades.

Our scholarly period was quite an interesting one. You always had a special way of relating with others- very charismatic.  We shared everything we had in common; clothes, money, shoes, gifts just name it. We were like siblings. There was no discrimination or disparity. You never got offended easily and even when you did, you never bore or harbored grudges. Once you have expressed your displeasure over that issue, the matter was gone and forgotten.

Up to the time that you secured a job and mine was not forthcoming, my jobless state became your pain. In those trying years, you were so wonderful to me; you stood by me and dealt kindly with me.
Nina, you are part of my achievement story and that is why I am at a loss on which aspect of your life to write about- your humility, jokes, creativity, friendship, smiles, generosity and impacts on many that came across you.

Favourite Favour, Nneooo, beautiful in body, character and spirit how I long to hear you call me Ozissss, how I long to hear your sweet voice at the other end of the phone call, how l scan through my WhatsApp messages to see if I could find any new messages from you.

Nne how I hate to say goodbye, but I just have to let go----Orie bekeee, nwaami nganga, onye omanama kwe ekwe, precious mummy to Precious Amogu, adorable wife to Umy, keep resting in the Lord.
